Sailing Trip

On the 28th April, 20 students from Year 8 and 2 staff departed for a one week trip to UKSA, on the Isle of Wight. We all met at 7:30a.m. to get on the mini bus, spending the next few hours on a road trip to Southampton to catch the ferry over the water to the Isle of Wight.  Once we had arrived, we went straight for lunch and shortly after started our water activities.  Throughout the week we were in the sea constantly (soaking wet all day), trying to master a new sport. We started off with kayaking and windsurfing and then turned to dinghy sailing and raft building. We ended our week stand-up paddle boarding, which everybody succeeded in, after just a few attempts. During the evening of our last day at UKSA, we had the opportunity of going crabbing using bacon as bait.  We then had to say goodbye to the lovely instructors we had met. The next morning we woke up at 6:30, had a quick breakfast and then we were off, back to London.  Thank you to Mr Merryweather and Miss Neil for giving us such an amazing opportunity, we had a lot of fun.
