Ski Trip Review

Hannah from Year 9 and group of Year 8 students have written up a short review of their skiing trip to Austria.  As well as reading the articles below, you can view photography from the trip on our Flickr account here.

In the February half term 39 students from years 8 and 9 went on a ski trip to Austria for a week. After what seemed like a week on the coach and a really bad ferry crossing we finally arrived at JUFA Kaprun, the hotel we would be staying at for the week. As everyone was really tired on Sunday morning when we went to our rooms we went straight to bed. Lunch was at 12.00 on Sunday, so we didn't get much sleep. After lunch we had our first ski lesson. We each got put into groups from never skied before to expert skiers. At first I was finding it hard to not fall over and to ski in a straight line! However as the week went on I found the skiing got easier.

On the last night we spent most of the evening playing and talking in the common room. This was an exciting time for me as I managed to beat Jules at table tennis! As well as achieving the goal that I was aiming to achieve I also really enjoyed the rewards evening. One of the awards given out were for the worst dressed...well done Ellis! And for superstar of the week, congratulations to Sam who won a cup, t-shirt and chocolates. Unfortunately I didn't win an award, but I did get a certificate I really enjoyed the ski trip and I was happy that Miss North organised it because if it wasn't for her, Mr Buss, Mr Scott and Miss Parsons, I wouldn't have been able to experience the wonderful place that is Austria. I don't think that I will ever forget the trip and I don't think anyone else who went on the trip will either. I had the experience of a lifetime and I would recommend the trip to anyone who will be in years 8 or 9 next year.

ski_feb14_203During the February half term, 39 students had the chance to go skiing in Kaprun, Austria. After a long and tiring journey which took much longer than expected, due to bad weather, we finally arrives at our destination Hotel JUFA, at 5am.

That afternoon, we all got into our skiing gear ready for our ski fit. After being given our skis, boots and poles we made our way to the nursery slopes. Nonetheless, whatever slope we were on we all had a lot of fun and were looking forward to what tomorrow had to bring. That evening we all settled down to get to know the place better and the evenings after that there were always activities for us to do, Such as the disco at the pizza place, the ski show and the quiz night.

After a couple of days on the nursery slopes most of us went up to Zell am See and skied on busier and higher mountains. It was fun although most people in our group kept falling. However despite all the bruises, bumps and 'injuries' we got through it and had a lot of fun.

On the last day we all went up to the Glacier for one final ski. It was probably the most fun we had all week and the view from the top, at 3092m was amazing. So after 7 days it was time to go home, back to boring old England, even though most of us wanted to stay! Many of us said that if we were given the opportunity we would defiantly come back. With thanks to all the teachers that took us, we have had an amazing experience we will never forget.
