Top Quality Dance Workshop for Year 8
The BRIT School, BRIT Kids, Rambert Company, Rambert School, Rambert Grades, and the Croydon Schools’ Dance Association (CSDA) have joined forces to launch a bold new pilot programme that aims to find, train, and elevate the next generation of diverse dance talent in Croydon.
The initiative will offer high-quality dance training (with a number of scholarship places available) to selected students from local primary and secondary schools, with a core focus on access, inclusion, and opportunity for all.

As part of this programme, 30 Year 8 students took part in a dance workshop on Tuesday 10th February at Harris City Academy Crystal Palace. The workshop was organised by Andrea Davis (Director of Dance at BRIT), Lucy Beadle (Rambert School - coordinator) and facilitated by Rambert School Dancers Jemima Sparrow and Luke Buckley.

The students engaged with a series of technical warm ups and then learned a phrase of movement that led to a creative choreography task. The students thrived in the setting rising to the technical challenge of the movement content and the delivery of the inspiring facilitators. The workshop concluded with a discussion about Dance/Arts careers and pathways to achieve this.

The organisers and facilitators commented on the students hard work ethic, creativity and dance ability. We are incredibly proud of our students and grateful that we had this opportunity.
