Lakes Playground Action group

On the 8th of June, four student representatives of Harris City Academy Crystal Palace aided the South Norwood Lakeside Action Playground Group in fundraising for the regeneration of the Waterside Community Centre and Park. The group is an accumulation of local community members who aim to strengthen and improve their area. It is local community grassroots politics in action. The charity has been established in order to provide the children of the local community a place to play. The day aimed to give the local community a hand in the development of their own local services. The attractions included a raffle, drama workshops for the children and the main event, the bouncy castle. Each student made sure they were able to help in any way possible and provided their services wherever and whenever necessary. It was thoroughly enjoyed by everybody and a lot of money was raised to go towards regenerating the park. The students would like to thank the Lakes Playground Action group for giving us the chance to participate, as well as Mr McCann for providing the opportunity.
