Anti Bullying Week, Monday 11th – Friday 15th November 2024

LogoMonday 11th November marks the beginning of Anti-Bullying Week, and this year’s theme is “Choose Respect”. This Anti-Bullying Week let's make a powerful choice to "Choose Respect".

Respect is the foundation of kindness, empathy and understanding, and it’s what builds inclusive, supportive communities. Whether online or in person, each of us has the power to stand up against bullying by treating others with dignity and kindness.

Let’s come together to create a safe space for everyone, where differences are celebrated, and everyone feels valued. Join us in making a positive impact: remember, when we choose respect, we choose a better world for all.

Statistics from the Anti-Bullying Alliance reveal that 40% of children in the UK have suffered some form of bullying within the last year, with the most common experience being name-calling and verbal abuse. While it can have several causes, this kind of behaviour is commonly seen when a disagreement between two youngsters gets out of hand and emotions take over

For children, it’s just as important to avoid this kind of behaviour whenever possible; without the necessary guidance, however, they could struggle to identify any disrespectful behaviour, let alone recognise what they can do differently.

Top tips for parents and educators

This guide offers you expert advice on teaching children and young people to choose respect when interacting with their peers, helping to create an environment based on empathy and tolerance.
