Year 11 GCSE Results 2021

Year 11 students from Harris City Academy Crystal Palace have celebrated a fantastic set of GCSE results this Summer. Overall 86% of the cohort achieved at least five GCSEs passes (Grade 4+) including English and Maths.

At the top end, 9.2% of all grades awarded were the super Grade 9, whilst 39.3% of all grades awarded were a Grade 7 or higher. Students who accumulated the greatest number of Grade 9s included James Appleton (10), Enzo Sa Walmsley (8), Rachael Omirefa (7) and Isabelle Thompson (7). Speaking after receiving their results, James said “I am so pleased by my grades given the uncertainty over the last year and very excited to be studying Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Geography at Harris Sixth Form”. Meanwhile Rachael said “these results were beyond my wildest expectations, and I’m really grateful for the support from my teachers- I will be studying Maths, Biology and Chemistry next year”. Another individual triumph was student Riddhi Vyas who recorded superb progress where she achieved significantly above target in every subject- this included five Grade 9s.

An inspirational success story is student Tyra Tanansi who achieved four Grade 9s, two Grade 8s, one Grade 7 and two Grade 6s. Tyra has undergone significant upheaval and difficult personal circumstances during her time at secondary school. Having joined our community at the start of Year 10 after movements across schools, Tyra has been a role model for younger students and a prefect representing her faculty. Tyra’s drive, determination and brilliant work ethic has enabled her to realise her full academic potential despite major obstacles.

Katherine Cumberbatch, Executive Principal at the academy, said “this has been an incredibly difficult year but through sheer hard work and determination, Year 11 have excelled with fantastic results, and I would like to thank staff and parents for all their support. We are delighted that the majority of students are staying on in our Sixth Form and for those who are leaving us, we wish them the best of luck”.
