Today marks the last day of Anti-Bullying Week, and we’re learning how to recognise when someone might be experiencing bullying. Look out for changes in mood, behaviour, confidence, or friendships and always speak to a trusted adult if you’re worried about someone.#HCACP pic.twitter.com/ECnGYoQi13

GCSE Results Summer 2014

77% of the year group achieved five A* - C grades including English and maths.  The highlights are:

  • a significant leap in English Baccalaureate performance, with 55% of students achieving it; the Academy’s best ever EBacc result, up from 40% last Summer;
  • over 20 students gained 10 or more straight A* and A passes, which is a record for the Academy;
  • Maths performed particularly well with almost all students (93%) achieving A*-C grades;
  • in total across the year group, 31.1% of students achieved top A* and A grades – representing almost a third of examinations taken compared with 22.7% in Summer 2013.  Again, this is a record for the Academy;
  • for the first time the Academy’s results this year are based entirely on GCSE qualifications not BTECs.

Congratulations and well done to our Year 11.  Many of our students have excelled themselves in the new style exams that were introduced this year and, across the year group as a whole, we are particularly pleased with our performance in the English Baccalaureate.  This is made up of good grades in a host of academic subjects and will stand our students in good stead for their future learning for which the majority have now enrolled for A level study in the 6th Form at the Academy.

A huge thank you goes to our staff who, as ever, have shown tremendous dedication to our students.  Many of our Year 11 achieved higher results and significant progress than would have been expected of them based on their starting points, and this is testament to our staff.
