Trip to Boulogne

On Thursday, 19th June 2014, 7CK and 7SS were on the coach ready to leave at 6:45am.  Miss Sharma, Ms Metcalfe, Mr Key, Mr Leaker and Ms Gauslin were accompanying us on our trip to Boulogne.

We were on the coach for an hour or so, many of us being occupied chatting with our friends whilst some of us fell asleep. When we got to the Eurotunnel station in Ashford, most of us were amazed when the coach drove onto the train. As the train started to move, we all scrambled out of the coach and gazed out the window. Although as soon as we went under the water our ears started to pop. Miss Sharma told us to look for fish but we couldn’t as we were in a pitch black tunnel!

When we got to the Hypermarket in Boulogne, most of us went straight to the Waffle shop: “Gaufre”. We bought waffles with melted Nutella using our knowledge of French. It was strange, in a good way, to talk French to a real French person, although the shopkeeper could talk a little bit of English.

Once we were finished in the Hypermarket, we got back on the coach and made our way to the Old Town in Boulogne. We saw many grand buildings on the way to the stalls, including a building that had a sign that Ryan translated in to English from the vocabulary that we learnt in class, revealing that it said “castle museum”.

We ate lunch and went to the stalls to buy souvenirs. Everybody bought different things from the stalls, from mood rings to berets. Everybody bought blue ones but Bethany bought a baby pink one to match her outfit.

After this we got back on the coach and went to the Aquarium to find out if this is where we can see fish! We saw sharks and angel fish, some people were lucky enough to touch a sting ray!

We had a very good day and we thank all the Teachers for organising and taking us as well as putting up with all the excitement.
