Table Tennis Success at Jack Petchey Tournament

The Harris City Academy Crystal Palace players have all done amazingly well at the Jack Petchey South London individuals with one of our boys winning the group stages, and all three girls entered being semi finalists.

In the U13 boys event, we had a surprise with a Harris CP player Arnold winning his group. However, he fell short in the next round against former national champions Whitgift.

The U16 boys were extremely strong with top class players throughout each group. Nathanael met the England number three where he had nothing to lose. Martin and Kinsey all dropped one match against seeded players in the groups but managed to persevere, beating the rest of the players to achieve second in groups to proceed to the next round. In the next round, both players lost to Wallington players who have previously been finalists.

Only three girls from Harris CP were entered, and they all made it to the semi-final! In the U16s; Aimee had a terrific run until she met England no14 (U15s) where experience came into play. Meanwhile, in the other semi-final, Caron met England junior No9 (U17s) where she came close, taking the first game. Soon after she was slowly neutralised when the England no9 came to terms with her game. In the U13 semis, Nicole fought back from two games down to have a deciding set, however she also just fell short and lost 3-2.

With the U13/U16 girls making to the semi-final, they will proceed to the qualifiers in April at UEL with the chance to make the national competition to compete against the best schools within UK.
