Harris Academies
All Academies in our Federation aim to transform the lives of the students they serve by bringing about rapid improvement in examination results, personal development and aspiration.

Diverse Leaders Programme

Following on from the success of the first cohort in 2016-17, we will be running a second cohort of the Diverse Leaders programme. This fantastic CPD opportunity, which is fully funded by the Department of Education, will nurture talented teachers and leaders from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) groups achieve career progression.

The Diverse Leaders programme aims to aid BAME colleagues into having the confidence to apply for leadership roles and headship positions- reflecting the profile of the students that they teach in school. Our facilitators are well known authors, motivational speakers, leadership experts and head teachers such as Viv Grant, Karen Giles, Jill Berry and Diana Osagie.

The programme has a knock-on effect as it provides students with tangible role models who they can aspire to and also expand the number of potential staff that can be recruited into leadership.

The course involves:

  • An induction afternoon and launch evening event
  • Five full days of face-to-face training days
  • Four leadership books:
    • Start With Why- by Simon Sineck
    • Leadership Matters- by Andy Buck
    • High Challenge- by Mary Myatt
    • Making The Leap- by Jill Berry
  • Celebration and reflection twilight

The programme offers an opportunity to explore the following themes:

  • Vision and values
  • Identity
  • Hidden characteristics
  • Challenges
  • Wellbeing
  • Authentic leadership
  • Imposter syndrome
  • Resilience
  • Career planning

Cost: Free

We have a waiting list for the programme due to start in January 2018, if you would like to register your interest please click here.

Please note that your head teacher will need to sign a confirmation form agreeing to release you for all training dates. Training dates will take place at Harris City Academy Crystal Palace and Harris Academy Chafford Hundred.
