Curriculum Hubs

Curriculum Hubs are centres of excellence which support other local schools to raise standards. On this page you can find out more about your local:

  • English Curriculum Hub
  • Maths Curriculum Hub
  • Science Learning Partnership
  • Research schools

English curriculum hubs

There are two English Hubs that work with schools in our region - Whiteknights Primary School and Chesterton Primary School. They are proud to be two of the government’s English Hubs – two of just 34 schools nationwide recognised for their excellence in teaching and learning, and now charged with supporting other local schools to raise their standards.

Hub schools have been allocated a geographical area within the region. However, you may choose to engage with any Hub, for example if you already have links to a specific Hub.

Maths curriculum hubs

The Maths Hubs programme brings together mathematics education professionals in a collaborative national network of 35 hubs, each locally led by an outstanding school or college, to develop and spread excellent practice, for the benefit of all pupils and students.

Maths Hubs have been allocated a geographical area within the region. However, you may choose to engage with any Hub, for example if you already have links to a specific Hub. There are three Maths Hubs that work with schools in our region.

Science Learning Partnership

In our Hub region Newstead Wood School coordinates and manages the South East London Science Learning Partnership (SLP), which provides quality, subject specific continuous professional development (CPD) for primary and secondary schools, and FE providers in our area.

It is part of a network of SLPs and other support for schools that is managed by STEM Learning. SLPs work collaboratively to design opportunities, together with our expert presenters, to help you to provide the very best science education for your students.

Research schools

The Greenshaw and Charles Dickens Research Schools serve our Hub area, but you can engage with any Research School. Find out more about the research schools network.

GreenshawGreenshaw High School is one of 39 research schools across the country (including associate research schools) which are funded by the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) with the main aim of leading the way in supporting teachers to use evidence-based practice in their teaching.

The research schools collaborate to devise professional development based on empirical evidence of what works and ‘best bets’. This means that Greenshaw has access to the most up-to-date research and is at the forefront in disseminating this and supporting the interpretation of evidence to other schools across London and the South East.

DickensCharles Dickens Research School works collaboratively with schools in South London and the South East to bring education research to life, by joining up theory and practice.

Charles Dickens has a track record of evidence-informed practice and of working with schools to use research to secure the best outcomes for children, both academically and through their creative, social and emotional development. They have particular expertise in curriculum development, pupil premium, supporting pupils with autism and feedback and marking.
