PE

The PE curriculum provides a wide range of contextualised opportunities and experiences throughout KS3 in the form of a variety of sports. At KS4 and KS5, the emphasis is placed on the option units provided through the examination courses, participation pathways and vocational routes such as sports leaders.

The intent of Physical Education in the Harris Federation can be broken down into four main categories:

  • Provide the key knowledge to allow students to access academic qualifications and achieve within sports-based careers
  • Develop the whole character of a student, in particular looking at building resilience through competitive sporting success and challenges
  • Use physical education as a vehicle for positive mental health and social well-being through a broad and deep enrichment programme
  • Develop 'physical literacy' and confidence in a broad range of sports so students can become lifelong participants.

Full details of the PE curriculum intent, along with the long term curriculum plans are available to download from the bottom of the page.
