Social Distancing in School - What to Expect

We’re really looking forward to seeing our students when school reopens on Monday 15th June.

This page explains some of the changes we’ve made to the classrooms, canteens and corridors – all designed to keep you, your families and our staff safe. Don’t worry, you’ll soon get used to the changes, here’s what to expect.

The whole school is going to feel much quieter, because there will be fewer students.

Students will look different too, because we're asking you to leave your blazers, bags and ties at home please. The only uniform you'll need is a white shirt, an Academy jumper if you want one, trousers or skirt and school shoes. You need to come in clean clothes each week.

When you arrive...

Students will wait outside the Academy gates then lined up on two meter distanced markers.

Please travel directly to school and do not congregate with friends either before or after school.

We've fitted special sinks in the playground, so the first thing you'll do when you arrive in school is to wash your hands.

In your classroom...

All your lessons will take place in one classroom. You’ll be taught in a group of no more than 15 students and you’ll stay with that group all day.

There are just 15 desks in each class, so everyone can stay two metres apart. All your lessons will take place in one classroom, with the teachers coming to you. In fact, only your group of 15 will use your classroom.

We’ll give you your own stationery pack (below) which is just for you to use. After your lessons, just leave everything in the classroom and it will be waiting for you next time. You don't need to bring stationery to school.

Your learning will still be done online at home, but your lessons are a chance to discuss and ask questions in a way that you can’t really do online, which will really help you.

In the corridors...

Everyone needs to keep two metres apart to help keep everyone safe.

In the canteen...

So remember…

  • No blazers, ties, bags or books please
  • Always stay with your group of 15
  • Mobile phones are allowed but must be kept out of sight
  • Bring you lunch card to buy food
  • Stay two metres apart and wash your hands when asked

So that's it! We hope that gives you a bit of an insight into how we are going to keep our whole community safe. We're really looking forward to seeing you.
