Recognising and responding to neglect

Cost:              £60pp

Date:               Fri 24 Jan 2020

Time:              10am – 1pm

Neglect is the most common form of abuse experienced by children and young people in England. In 2018, national figures showed that of the 53,790 children subject to a Child Protection Plan, 48% were under the category of neglect. Staff within schools are in ideal positions to recognise neglect in its early stages.

This workshop aims to provide participants with an understanding of neglect in its different forms, why it happens, and to recognise the impact it can have on children and young people’s lives. Participants will explore common signs and learn appropriate responses. In addition, this workshop will identify challenges, which exist for schools when recognising and responding to child neglect.
