PHSE/Citzenship
Preparation for Adulthood encompasses three strands of learning:
Citizenship, PSHE and Careers Education
Citizenship aims to empower individuals to engage in the wider community through education about the law, democracy and society. At Harris we focus particularly on developing young people’s citizenship skills, knowledge and understanding. The students use these qualities to support their work for a half GCSE in year 9.
Personal, social and health education (PSHE) helps to give students the knowledge, skills and understanding they need to lead confident, healthy and independent lives. It aims to help them understand how they are developing personally and socially, tackling many of the moral, social and cultural issues that are part of growing up.
Careers Education helps students develop the knowledge and skills they need to make successful choices, manage transitions in learning and move into work. This is further supported and developed by the Career Guidance Area, which offers practical advice to students.
