Modular Science

Through teaching Science in practical lessons and the context of real life, students are able to enjoy applying this important subject to the world around them.

Students at Harris are encouraged to become literate in the Science that shapes our society today. Students are motivated by a team of staff who are able to develop a curiosity for the phenomena in the world around us, as well as the topical issues of the moment. Through practical experimentation, computer modelling or open discussion, students are given opportunities to ask questions, analyse and evaluate in ways that will become more important as they are asked to make decisions about the science that will change their world. ICT in science is a key part of the learning experience. Students will experience computer modelling of reactions that are too dangerous to perform in laboratories. They will use ICT to collect experimental data so that it is downloaded straight onto the computer for analysis. We also have developed and purchased several programmes that can be used for revision purposes, helping students to study in a variety of ways.
